Geopepper is enabled by the Alcatel-Lucent 5130 GMSP, a next-generation, location-driven services platform that supports the rapid deployment of finely targeted "push" messaging, advertising and social networking services to mobile users based on their location.
Developed and commercialized by Alcatel-Lucent, the 5130 GMSP leverages new patent-pending technology to deliver the most advanced "geofencing" engine in the industry today. Geofencing detects when an end user who has opted-in for a service crosses into or out of a geographically defined target zone (for example, within 100 meters of a coffee shop). SMS or multimedia message are sent based on this geographic targeting, ensuring that the user gets only the right information at the right time-for example, a promotion for a nearby store, or an alert that a friend or contact is nearby.
Featuring innovative Alcatel-Lucent algorithms, GMSP is ideal for the introduction of next-generation mobile applications such as proximity marketing and social networking, "kid tracker" and countless other opt-in mobile applications developed by service providers, content suppliers and other third parties.
The 5130 GMSP Platform and application suite includes:
- 5130 GMSP Geofencing Engine: the industry's most advanced fencing engine
- A web-services API that makes it fast and easy to develop applications drawing on the smart Geofencing Engine
- Geopepper Mobile Marketing application, a white label service that can be easily re-branded by a service or content provider, offering location-driven, mobile marketing capabilities to deliver timely information about retail businesses and promotions based on location and pre-defined end user interests
- Geopepper Social Networking Application for carriers, a white label service that offers location-driven social networking capabilities for mobile devices, delivering targeted content and friend alerts based on end-user location
